The Equip Teaching Awards
The Equip Teaching Awards programme is designed to honour and celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in Rwanda who, through their commitment, have enriched the lives of their students and improved the quality of school education.
Equip is a UK based Christian charity and Rwandan International Non Governmental Organization working to promote opportunity and excellence in education and for young people.
A flagship part of our strategic plan, is to organise and implement an award initiative for Rwandan teachers. This will be to enable them to showcase their abilities which will in turn promote innovation and creativity across the teaching profession.
The Equip Teaching Awards will recognise the most innovative minds when it comes to educational research, teaching and learning practices and the development of a global learning community.
This will enable the adoption of the best ideas and practices, improving the quality of education across Rwanda and promoting wider access to educational opportunity.
In the first year of the award, the focus is on TVET schools where different categories will be involved in the competition including the award for:
- Head Teacher of the Year
- Making a Difference
- Outstanding New Teacher of the Year
- Best Male Teacher of the Year
- Best Female Teacher of the Year
- and a discretionary award, The Equip National Director’s Award
Objectives for The Equip Teaching Awards are to:
- Encourage creativity and innovation in the teaching and learning environment leading to better quality education for students.
